    约瑟夫•列文森(Joseph R. Levenson,1920—1969),青年时期就读于哈佛大学,二战时应征入伍,战后回到哈佛大学攻读博士学位。1951年,经费正清推荐,赴加州大学伯克利分校任教。1969年不幸溺水身亡。列文森是20世纪五六十年代美国中国学研究领域的代表人物,美国中国近代思想史研究领域的开拓者。他视野广阔、才华横溢,被同仁誉为“莫扎特式的历史学家”。以他名字命名的“列文森中国研究最佳著作奖”,是美国中国学领域最重要的奖项之一。代表作为《梁启超与中国近代思想》(1953)、《儒教中国及其现代命运》(1965)、《革命与世界主义》(1971)。

    康豹 (Paul R. Katz) 美國普林斯頓大學東亞系博士,曾經在國立中正大學與國立中央大學擔任過副教授和教授。目前為中央研究院近代史研究所特聘研究員,並擔任蔣經國國際學術交流基金會研究室主任。他的研究主要集中在近代中國和台灣的宗教社會史,以跨學科的方法綜合歷史文獻和田野調查。 於碩士班修業期間,習得民間文學研究的理論與方法,並曾在2011~2013年間參與「花蓮地區地方風物傳說采集與考察」國科會(今科技部)專題計畫,透過實地田野調查及親身訪談,深刻體認到流傳於臺灣民間的傳說故事,皆蘊含著人民的智慧與情感,遂決定於熟悉的家鄉進行民間文學研究。
